Michael Spencer

Director

Michael always considered himself a late bloomer when it came to the arts. Having his acting debut at the age of 19, Michael grew to add welding, carpentry, stage managing, and lighting and sound technician to his skills. Michael continued to work in the DFW theatre community until his graduation from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2016 with a BFA in Acting and Directing. While at SFASU, Michael gained more interest in charitable causes which ultimately led him to join Pi Kappa Phi, whose core charitable cause is to help those with mental and physical special needs. Michael would go on to help raise thousands of dollars for Pi Kappa Phi from 2012 - 2015.

After graduating, Michael returned to the DFW theatre scene where he connected with John Garcia, at THE COLUMN AWARDS GALA in 2016. Feeling the bridge between the need to volunteer for charity and the itch to create, Michael offered his talents to join the 2017 Gala Production Team. Since then, Michael joined the Board of Directors of THE COLUMN AWARDS and accepted a position as a Teaching Assistant in the Adult Transition Program at Grapevine-Colleyville ISD.

Michael would like to thank the beautiful DFW theatre community and would like to leave everyone with a message by which he lives by: “Help those who asks, help those who do not have the voice to ask and just maybe you’ll find they’ve been helping you too.”
