Tevin Cates

Director

Tevin Cates performed in his first community theatre production at the age of seven and continued pursuing his passions at Artisan Center Theatre and then at Arlington High School where he graduated with honors. Acting became a family affair as both his mom and sister have joined him onstage in 16 performances. Tevin has performed in over 70 productions and has had the opportunity to work under Rick Blair, Todd Hart and Eddie Floresca. After spending two years working in the Entertainment Division of Walt Disney World in Orlando, Tevin returned to DFW in 2017 and choreographed the spring musical and show choir for Crowley High School.

Tevin auditioned for the Column Awards Opening Number in 2017 and reunited with John Garcia whom he has known for several years. It was during his involvement with the Gala that Tevin realized his skills could be of service to THE COLUMN AWARDS Board so he stepped up to help with the event. In addition, Tevin believes his skills can help to raise money for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Tevin is currently attending the University of Texas at Arlington pursuing a BA in Theatre Education. He plans to share his knowledge and experience of the performance arts with high school students as a theatre teacher. Tevin is excited to apart of the Column Awards board and what’s in store for the future.
